Reconnect or disconnect
Refresh expired Meta access without losing data, or remove an account from Wysestats cleanly.
Reconnecting and disconnecting are different actions with very different consequences. Reconnecting refreshes Meta access on an existing account. Disconnecting stops future refreshes and lets you choose what happens to existing data.
Why connections expire
Meta access is time-limited. Tokens are issued for a fixed window and must be refreshed periodically. We renew them automatically while you are active. When automatic renewal fails — usually because the underlying Page admin lost access, the Instagram account changed type, or you logged out of Meta on every device for a long stretch — the connection moves into a state that requires you to reconnect manually.
When this happens, you'll see a Reconnect required banner on the affected account row in Account → Connections, and a banner across the top of pages that depend on it.
Reconnect
- Open Account → Connections.
- Find the account showing Reconnect required.
- Click Reconnect.
- Re-grant access in Meta. Use the same Facebook login that originally connected the account, or any login that has insights access on the same Page.
- Confirm. The account returns to a healthy state.
Historical data is preserved through reconnect. If your access was expired for a while, the gap during expiry may have missed daily refreshes; we backfill what Meta still serves on the next sync, within Meta's per-metric retention window. Anything older than Meta's retention window is permanently gone — not because of the disconnect, but because Meta itself no longer holds it.
Disconnect
- Open Account → Connections.
- Click Disconnect on the account row you want to remove.
- Confirm.
What we keep after disconnect:
- All derived analytics already computed.
- Reports already generated.
- Planner databases tied to that account, including any Notion sync history.
What stops:
- Future daily refreshes for that account.
- Any planner sync, lead sync, or report schedule that referenced the account.
What you can choose later: full data deletion. See Data and privacy for the deletion flow.
Revoking access on Meta's side
Disconnecting on our side stops us from using your Meta access. It does not revoke the Wysestats app inside your Meta account. To revoke access from Meta's end as well, open Facebook → Settings → Apps and Websites → Wysestats → Remove. This is optional but a common step for users tightening privacy after offboarding a client.
