Why some metrics are missing for some posts

Reference matrix of which Instagram metrics are available for which post types, and why.

Not every Instagram metric exists for every post type. Reels are not feed images. Meta returns different fields depending on what was published. The matrix below is the quick reference.

Available means Meta returns the metric reliably for that post type. Limited means Meta returns it only for some posts, or only for a window of time, or only for accounts above a certain follower threshold. Not available means Meta does not return the metric for that post type at all.

Footnotes

  • Retention curve is currently not exposed by Meta for most post types. Where Reel retention is returned, it is point-in-time and not always available retroactively. We surface it when Meta serves it and leave it blank when not.
  • Carousel video views are returned only when at least one slide is a video and Meta tagged the carousel as eligible. Image-only carousels return no video metrics.
  • Live insights depend on the live broadcast being saved and on Meta classifying it correctly. Many live broadcasts return only basic reach.
  • A few metrics — historically reach for very small accounts and impressions for newly-created accounts — require the account to be above a Meta-set follower threshold. We do not list the exact threshold here because Meta changes it. If a metric is missing where the matrix says it should be available, your follower count is the first thing to check.

Why we cannot show what Meta does not return

Wysestats uses Meta's official connection only. We never scrape Instagram. If Meta did not record a metric or has dropped it from its retention window, no tool — including the official Instagram app — can show it after the fact.
