Connecting as part of a team
What to do when you work at a brand but lack the Page admin rights needed to grant the Instagram connection.
You work at a company. The brand owns its own Instagram account. You try to connect it and the account does not appear in Meta's picker. The Facebook login worked, but the Instagram account is missing. This is almost always a permissions issue inside your company's Meta Business setup.
The blocker
Only a Page admin — or a team member with insights access on the Page — can grant the Instagram connection. Editors, content publishers, and most other Page roles can log in to Facebook successfully, but Meta filters the picker to only show Instagram accounts the logged-in person has insights access to. If you don't have that role, the account is invisible to you.
The fix
Two options. Pick whichever is faster inside your company.
Option A — ask your Page admin to connect once
Find the person on your team who manages the brand's Facebook Page. Send them the Connect Instagram page and ask them to run the connection from their own Wysestats session. Once connected, the data is visible to anyone who shares that workspace.
Option B — ask for the insights role yourself
Ask the Page admin to grant you a role on the Page that includes insights access. In Meta Business, the role description mentions "Insights" or "Analyst". Standard analyst-level roles work; limited content-only roles do not.
A copy-paste request you can send your admin:
I need to connect our Instagram account to an analytics tool, but the picker doesn't show our account to me. This means I don't have insights access on our Facebook Page. Can you either grant me an Analyst role on the Page in Meta Business, or run the connection yourself once?
Sanity check before reaching out
Before pinging your admin, confirm two things:
- The brand's Instagram account is Business or Creator, not Personal. If it's Personal, no permission level will help — see Why Meta requires a Business or Creator account.
- The Instagram account is already linked to the company's Facebook Page. If your team has never linked them, even an admin will see the account missing from the picker.
A quick way to confirm both: open the brand's Instagram profile in the Instagram mobile app, check Settings → Account type and tools and Settings → Accounts Center.
