Keeping your data current

How often Wysestats refreshes your numbers, what affects freshness, and what to check first when something looks stale.

Wysestats does not stream Instagram data live. Numbers move on a daily rhythm — and understanding that rhythm makes the product feel less mysterious when something looks a little behind.

The daily refresh

We pull fresh data once per day for each connected account, in the background, timed across the day so accounts refresh at slightly different moments rather than all at once.

Automatic daily refresh is the only refresh path today — there is no manual "refresh now" control for analytics. If the latest numbers look a few hours behind, that is normal; the next daily pull closes the gap.

Each pull brings in new posts, updated insight numbers (likes, comments, reach, saves, plays) for posts already in your library, and account-level snapshots such as follower count for the day.

What affects freshness

Connection state. If your Instagram connection has expired or hit an error, the daily refresh has nothing to pull. Wysestats flags this in Account → Connections and on the Home page. Reconnecting restarts the flow — see Reconnect or disconnect.

Meta's retention rules. Some metrics — particularly older insight numbers — are only available from Meta for a limited window. Once Meta stops returning a value for an old post, no future refresh can recover it. See Account history and data gaps.

Your plan tier. Plans differ in how deeply we backfill historical posts and how much competitor history we keep. The daily refresh runs the same way on every plan, but the depth of what we pull varies. See Pricing and plans.

Account-type changes on Instagram. If an account has been Personal at any point, those stretches will have permanent gaps. Meta did not record insights then, so no refresh can fill them.

Planner sync timing

The planner runs on its own clock. Edits save immediately and show up to anyone else viewing the planner in real time. Sync to and from a connected Notion database happens shortly after each edit, so the two stay in step within a minute or two rather than waiting for the next daily pull.

When to worry, and when not to

Most "is this stale?" moments are normal timing. Before assuming something is broken:

  • Confirm you are looking at the correct Instagram account in the switcher.
  • Check Home — it shows when the most recent refresh ran.
  • Open Account → Connections for any reauth prompt.
  • Check Usage and quotas for plan-related messaging.

If all four look healthy and the numbers still feel wrong twenty-four hours later, that is the moment to reach out.
