Why a feature is locked
Three reasons something looks unavailable in Wysestats, and how to tell which one applies to you.
When a button is greyed out, a page says you do not have access, or a feature card prompts you to upgrade, the cause is one of three things. The recovery is different for each — start with the cause that matches your situation.
1. Plan tier
The most common cause: the feature is part of a higher plan than the one you are on.
Wysestats has three plans — Solo, Creator, and Pro. Each plan unlocks a different set of capabilities. Higher-tier features show a lock or an "upgrade to access" prompt when viewed on a lower plan.
How to tell it is plan-related: the lock message references your current plan or invites you to upgrade. The feature works fine for users on higher plans.
Recovery: open Account → Billing and review the upgrade options. The feature unlocks the moment your plan change is processed. For the breakdown of which features sit on which plan, see Pricing and plans.
2. Active account state
The feature exists on your plan, but the Instagram account you currently have selected is not in a state where the feature can run.
The two cases that come up most often:
- The Instagram account needs reconnection. A red or yellow banner appears at the top of the app and many features pause until the connection is healthy again.
- The active Instagram account is in a Personal state, was deleted on Meta's side, or was disconnected by another team member. Features that need live insights cannot run against an unhealthy account.
How to tell it is account-state related: the lock message references the connection or a banner is visible. Switching to a different connected Instagram account fixes the lock for that other account.
Recovery: walk through Reconnect or disconnect to refresh the connection. Once the account is healthy, the feature is available again.
3. Setup state
You are on the right plan and there is no connection problem to fix — there is no Instagram account connected to Wysestats yet at all. Most data-dependent features have no input to operate on until the first Instagram account is connected.
How to tell it is setup-related: the lock message asks you to connect an Instagram account, or the feature page shows an empty state instead of data.
Recovery: open Account → Connections and connect your first Instagram account. See Connect Instagram for the step-by-step. After the connection completes, the feature unlocks immediately.
